Important Publishing Disclosure

Nanak Flights provides flight-booking assistance and does not control airline schedules, fares, baggage rules, refunds, airport security, visas or immigration decisions. Requirements can change by airline, airport, route, fare and passenger circumstances. Travellers remain responsible for valid documents and compliance with all applicable requirements.

60-Second Flight Quote Checklist

For a useful quotation, provide the departure city, destination, one-way, return or multi-city dates, passenger count and ages, baggage needs, cabin preference, flexible-date range, preferred timings, budget and any student, senior, wheelchair, medical, group or urgent-travel requirement. For an international journey, also provide passport nationality and all intended transit points.

Booking, fares and payments

What is Nanak Flights?

Nanak Flights is an India-focused flight booking assistance service for domestic and international travel. The team helps travellers compare practical options by total price, baggage allowance, journey time, layovers, airport changes and ticket rules before they pay.

Does Nanak Flights book domestic flights within India?

Yes. Nanak Flights can assist with domestic flights connecting Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Amritsar, Ahmedabad, Pune, Goa, Srinagar, Jammu, Kochi, Lucknow, Varanasi and other Indian cities, subject to airline schedules and seat availability.

Does Nanak Flights book international flights from India?

Yes. Nanak Flights can compare one-way, return and multi-city itineraries from India to Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Hong Kong and other destinations.

What details should I send to receive an accurate flight quote?

Send the departure city, destination, travel date, return date if applicable, number and ages of passengers, baggage needs, preferred cabin, flexible-date range, preferred timings and any student, senior, wheelchair or urgent-travel requirement. For international travel, also mention the passport nationality and every intended transit point so the itinerary can be screened for obvious transit-document concerns.

How does Nanak Flights compare flight options?

The comparison should consider the total amount payable—not only the headline fare—along with checked baggage, cabin baggage, total journey time, number and length of layovers, terminal or airport changes, separate-ticket risk, seat selection, meal inclusion and change or cancellation conditions. A slightly higher fare can be better value when it avoids extra baggage charges or an impractical connection.

Are flight fares fixed once I receive a quotation?

No. Airline fares and seats can change until payment is completed and the ticket is issued. A quotation should therefore state the fare, baggage, ticket conditions and the time until which the option can reasonably be rechecked, but it cannot guarantee inventory before ticketing.

When is my flight booking confirmed?

Your booking is confirmed only after the required payment is received, the airline ticket is issued and you receive an e-ticket showing the passenger name, itinerary, airline booking reference or PNR and ticket number where applicable. A screenshot of a fare or an unticketed reservation is not a confirmed ticket.

Can I pay for a flight by UPI, bank transfer or card?

Available payment methods should be confirmed in writing with each quotation. Pay only through Nanak Flights’ verified business payment details or official payment link, recheck any last-minute change in bank or UPI information through the official email address, and obtain a payment receipt.

Can I request a GST invoice or business travel invoice?

Yes, request the invoice before payment and provide the passenger or company legal name, billing address, GSTIN where applicable and any purchase-order reference. The invoice format and GST treatment depend on the transaction and the business’s applicable tax obligations, so the final policy should be confirmed at booking.

Should I book a one-way or return flight within India?

A return booking can be convenient when both dates are fixed, while two one-way tickets may offer better timings or different airlines. Compare the total fare, baggage, change fees and cancellation rules for both options before paying.

What is the difference between a non-stop flight and a direct flight?

A non-stop flight travels between two airports without a scheduled stop. A direct flight may keep the same flight number but can stop en route, so travellers should check the full itinerary rather than relying only on the word 'direct'.

Can Nanak Flights arrange a multi-city itinerary from India?

Yes. Multi-city bookings can combine routes such as Delhi-Dubai-London-Mumbai or Amritsar-Toronto-Vancouver-Delhi. Share every city, preferred date and baggage need so the itinerary can be checked as one complete journey.

What is an open-jaw flight booking?

An open-jaw itinerary arrives in one city and returns from another, such as Delhi to Toronto and Vancouver to Delhi. It can reduce backtracking, but local transport between the two destination cities is the passenger's responsibility.

How can flexible travel dates reduce my airfare?

Ask for a date range of at least two or three days on either side of your preferred date. Midweek departures, off-peak timings and nearby airports may offer a lower total fare, especially during school holidays, festivals and wedding seasons in India.

Is the cheapest flight always the best option?

Not necessarily. A very low fare may exclude checked baggage, meals, seat selection or changes, or may include a long layover or airport change. Compare the total trip cost and convenience, not only the first price displayed.

What is a codeshare flight?

A codeshare is sold under one airline's flight number but operated by another airline. The operating carrier usually controls check-in, aircraft, baggage handling and onboard service, so both the marketing and operating airline should be identified before booking.

What is a self-transfer flight itinerary?

A self-transfer usually involves separate tickets or unprotected connections. The passenger may need to collect baggage, clear immigration, change terminals and check in again, and may have to buy a new ticket if the first flight causes a missed connection.

Are separate flight tickets safe for international travel from India?

They can work when the connection time is generous and entry or transit rules allow it, but they carry more risk than one protected ticket. Check baggage collection, terminal changes, visa requirements and the consequences of a delay before booking.

What is the difference between a PNR and an e-ticket number?

A PNR is the booking reference used to retrieve the reservation, while an e-ticket number identifies the issued ticket. A valid PNR alone does not always prove that payment and ticket issuance are complete.

Can a flight fare be held without immediate payment?

Some airlines or fare types offer a paid or limited-time fare hold, but many do not. Unless a written hold confirmation is issued, the seat and price can change before payment and ticketing.

What does a refundable flight ticket mean?

A refundable ticket may permit cancellation with a refund after applicable deductions. It does not always mean a full refund, so check airline penalties, fare difference rules, no-show charges and agency service fees before buying.

What is a flexible or flexi flight fare?

A flexible fare generally offers lower change or cancellation penalties, preferred seating or other benefits. The exact inclusions vary by airline, and any fare difference may still be payable when the travel date is changed.

Why does the final airfare increase at the payment stage?

The final amount may include taxes, airport charges, convenience fees, selected seats, meals, insurance or baggage add-ons. Review the price breakdown and remove optional products you do not need before authorising payment.

Are airport taxes already included in an Indian flight ticket?

Most displayed final ticket prices include mandatory taxes and airport-related charges, but the exact breakdown can vary by airline and route. Check the final fare summary rather than assuming every quoted amount is all-inclusive.

Does Nanak Flights charge a service fee?

Any applicable booking, amendment or assistance fee should be disclosed before payment. Ask for the total amount payable and the service conditions in writing so there is no confusion later.

How are infant fares calculated on domestic flights in India?

Infants who travel without a separate seat are generally charged an airline-set infant fee, while a child occupying a seat is booked under the applicable child or regular fare. Age proof may be required at check-in.

Do children receive discounted flight tickets in India?

Child discounts are not guaranteed. Many airlines price child seats close to adult fares, while taxes or special offers may differ, so compare the actual final amount for the specific route and date.

Can I book a flight for another person from India?

Yes. The payer and passenger can be different people, but the passenger's name, date of birth and travel document details must be entered accurately. The traveller should carry the required ID and booking confirmation.

Can someone outside India pay for my flight ticket?

Often yes, subject to the payment method, card verification and airline or payment-gateway controls. The payer should use authorised details and keep proof of payment in case additional verification is requested.

Can I book flights for a wedding group in India?

Yes. For wedding travel from cities such as Delhi, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Mumbai or Lucknow, provide passenger count, route, date range and baggage needs. Group fares may require a deposit, name deadlines and special cancellation conditions.

How do group flight bookings work?

Airlines may treat a booking as a group when the passenger count reaches their specified threshold. Group bookings can offer coordinated terms, but the fare may not always be lower than individual tickets and payment deadlines are usually strict.

Can Nanak Flights arrange corporate travel bookings?

Yes. Corporate travel can be planned around preferred airlines, flexible fares, GST documentation, baggage needs and employee approval processes. Provide company billing details and any purchase-order requirement before ticketing.

Can I book pilgrimage flights for a family or community group?

Yes. Nanak Flights can compare options for destinations connected with Amritsar, Varanasi, Ayodhya, Tirupati, Shirdi, Srinagar, Jammu, Saudi Arabia and other pilgrimage routes, subject to permits, visas and airline availability.

Can I book an emergency flight at the last minute?

Yes, if seats are available. Last-minute fares can be high, so compare direct and connecting flights, nearby airports and different departure times while ensuring the passenger can still meet check-in and document requirements.

Are late-night or early-morning flights cheaper in India?

They can be, but not always. Consider airport transport availability, hotel check-in time, personal safety, weather patterns and whether elderly passengers or children can comfortably manage the timing.

Can I fly from a nearby airport to get a lower fare?

Yes. Travellers may compare Delhi with Chandigarh or Jaipur, Mumbai with Pune, or Bengaluru with nearby regional airports where practical. Add road or train costs and travel time before deciding that the alternate airport is cheaper.

Can I choose different airlines for the onward and return journey?

Yes. Mixing airlines may improve timings or fares, but each ticket will have separate baggage, change, cancellation and disruption rules. Check whether a missed outbound flight affects only that ticket or the full itinerary.

Can I book an international ticket in Indian rupees?

Many India-based booking channels display and collect payment in INR. Foreign currency conversion, card charges or dynamic currency conversion may apply when the ticket is issued outside India or paid with an overseas card.

What should I do if my payment fails but money is debited?

Do not immediately pay again until the booking status is checked. Keep the transaction reference, bank message and screenshot, and confirm whether a ticket was issued or the amount is pending reversal.

What happens if I accidentally make two bookings for the same passenger?

Contact the airline or Nanak Flights immediately with both PNRs. Duplicate-booking relief is not guaranteed and may depend on how quickly the error is reported, whether the tickets are identical and the applicable fare rules.

Can I pay for a flight ticket in instalments or EMI?

EMI availability depends on the card issuer, payment gateway and current offer. Review interest, processing fees, refund treatment and whether cancellation will affect the EMI schedule before selecting this option.

Can I use a promotional code on a flight booking?

A promo code may apply only to selected routes, dates, payment methods or booking channels. Compare the final payable amount because a promotional fare can have stricter change or cancellation conditions.

Can I add baggage after booking my flight?

Usually yes, subject to airline limits and availability. Prepaid baggage is often better priced than airport excess baggage, but it may be non-refundable or restricted to a specific flight sector.

Can I select my seat after the ticket is issued?

Usually yes. Seat selection may be free, chargeable or unavailable until check-in depending on the airline and fare. Emergency-exit seats have additional eligibility requirements.

Can I pre-book a meal on an Indian domestic flight?

Many airlines allow paid meal pre-booking on eligible flights, while some fares include meals. Availability depends on flight duration, aircraft, route and the time remaining before departure.

Can I add my frequent-flyer number after booking?

Often yes, through manage-booking, check-in or the airline service desk. The passenger name and loyalty-account name should match, and mileage credit remains subject to the booking class and programme rules.

Can I redeem airline miles through Nanak Flights?

Reward-ticket redemption is usually controlled by the airline's loyalty programme and may need to be completed through the member account. Nanak Flights can still help compare paid alternatives and practical connections.

Should I purchase travel insurance with my flight ticket?

Travel insurance can help with covered events such as medical emergencies, cancellations, delays or baggage problems, but exclusions and claim limits matter. Read the policy wording instead of treating insurance as an automatic refund guarantee.

What is hidden-city or skip-leg ticketing?

It is the practice of leaving the itinerary at a connecting airport instead of flying the final sector. Airlines may prohibit it, checked baggage may continue to the ticketed destination, and remaining sectors can be cancelled, so it is not a safe booking strategy.

Can all family members be booked under one PNR?

Often yes, when seats are available in the same fare and passenger limits permit it. A single PNR can simplify management, but separate PNRs may be unavoidable when fares, special services or ticket types differ.

Can I book a flight before my leave is approved?

You can, but a non-refundable fare creates financial risk. Consider a flexible fare, a permitted fare hold or travel insurance that specifically covers the relevant reason, if available.

Can I book a flight before receiving my visa?

You can, but visa approval is never guaranteed. A refundable, changeable or properly held itinerary may reduce risk, and passengers should not submit a false or fabricated ticket for any official process.

Do I need a return ticket for a one-way international journey?

Airlines or border authorities may ask for onward or return travel depending on the visa, residency status and destination rules. A work permit, study permit, residence card or immigrant visa may change what evidence is appropriate.

What is an open ticket and can I buy one in India?

Traditional open tickets are uncommon. Most modern tickets require a booked date, although flexible fares may allow later date changes subject to availability, validity and fare difference.

Can I join a waitlist for a sold-out flight?

Some full-service airlines may offer waitlisting in limited situations, but most low-cost airline bookings require a confirmed seat. A waitlisted reservation should not be treated as a confirmed travel plan.

Why is the airline website fare different from the quoted fare?

Prices can differ because of inventory updates, currency, fare bundles, logged-in offers, payment fees or cached search results. Compare the same flight, baggage, fare family and final payment total at the same time.

Can Nanak Flights book regional flights from smaller Indian cities?

Yes, subject to active routes and schedules. Travellers from cities such as Dehradun, Indore, Surat, Ranchi, Guwahati, Patna, Raipur, Coimbatore or Bhubaneswar can compare direct and connecting options through larger hubs.

What is the benefit of booking all sectors on one ticket?

One ticket can provide through baggage and better protection when an airline-caused delay disrupts a connection. The exact protection depends on the participating airlines and ticket agreement, so verify the connection status before payment.

Can a quoted fare change while I am sending passenger details?

Yes. Fare inventory can change at any time before ticket issuance, even while details are being collected. Sending complete and accurate information promptly reduces delay but does not lock the price.

Domestic flight documents, check-in and airport preparation

Which ID proof can I use for a domestic flight in India?

Carry an original or officially accepted digital photo identity document that matches the passenger details. Commonly listed options include a passport, voter ID, Aadhaar, PAN card, driving licence and certain government, employer, student, bank or pension photo IDs; the operating airline’s current list and airport-security requirements prevail.

Is Aadhaar mandatory for a domestic flight in India?

No. Aadhaar is not the only identity document used for domestic air travel. Airlines publish alternative accepted photo IDs, but the passenger name on the ticket should reasonably match the identity document presented at the airport.

Can I show a DigiLocker document at the airport?

Government guidance recognises specified identity documents issued through DigiLocker for departing air passengers. Use the document from DigiLocker’s issued-documents section rather than relying on a photograph or a user-uploaded scan, and carry a backup ID whenever possible.

What happens if my name is incorrect on a domestic ticket?

Contact Nanak Flights immediately. Airlines may permit a minor spelling correction subject to proof and fees, but tickets are generally non-transferable and replacing one passenger with another is usually not allowed.

Do I need to complete web check-in?

Complete web check-in when the operating airline makes it available, unless the passenger or itinerary requires airport document verification. Online check-in does not remove the need to arrive before baggage-drop, security and boarding cut-offs.

How early should I reach an Indian airport?

Follow the operating airline and airport guidance shown for the specific flight. As a practical planning buffer, many travellers aim to arrive about two hours before a domestic departure and about three hours before an international departure, with additional time during holidays, severe weather, large-group travel or document-heavy journeys.

Is DigiYatra mandatory?

No. DigiYatra enrolment and use are voluntary. Travellers who do not use it can continue through the airport’s regular entry, security and boarding processes with the required ticket and identity documents.

Do I need a printed e-ticket for a domestic flight in India?

A printed ticket is usually not essential when you can show a valid electronic itinerary and accepted photo ID. Carrying a printout can still help senior citizens, first-time flyers or travellers with a low phone battery.

How can I check the correct terminal for my flight?

Check the latest airline message, airport website or manage-booking page before leaving home. Large airports such as Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru may use different terminals, and terminal assignments can change.

What should I do if my departure terminal changes?

Follow the airline's latest notification and allow extra transfer time. At airports with separate terminals, use the authorised shuttle, metro, taxi or airport transfer service and confirm the new check-in cut-off.

Can I enter an Indian airport with only a booking confirmation?

Airport entry generally requires a valid ticket or boarding document for the relevant travel date and an accepted identity document. An unticketed itinerary, fare screenshot or payment receipt may not be sufficient.

Can a family member accompany me inside the terminal?

Normally only ticketed passengers enter the departure terminal. Airport authorities may issue limited visitor or assistance access in specific circumstances, but this should not be assumed and must be confirmed with the airport.

What ID should a child carry on a domestic flight in India?

Carry age and identity proof accepted by the operating airline, such as a passport, Aadhaar, birth certificate or school identity card, depending on the child's age and airline policy. The accompanying adult should also carry valid ID.

What document should I carry for an infant on a domestic flight?

Carry reliable proof of the infant's date of birth, such as a birth certificate, passport or other document accepted by the airline. This is important because infant eligibility is based on age on the travel date.

Can I fly domestically with an expired passport as ID?

Do not rely on an expired passport without confirming acceptance. Use another current, accepted government photo ID whenever possible because airline and airport-security staff may reject expired identification.

Is a photocopy or phone photograph of my ID accepted at the airport?

A simple photocopy or gallery image may not be accepted. Carry the original document or an officially accepted digital document from a recognised platform, plus a backup ID where possible.

What if my ticket shows initials but my ID shows my full name?

Minor variations may be accepted when the identity is clear, but the decision rests with the airline and security staff. Contact the airline before travel, especially when the surname, given name or initials appear in a different order.

What if my title or gender is incorrect on the ticket?

A title error may not always require reissue, but it should be reported immediately. The passenger's actual name and identity document details are more important, and airline-specific correction procedures may apply.

Can I travel under my married name if my ID has my maiden name?

The ticket should match the identity document used for travel. If documents show different names, carry supporting evidence such as a marriage certificate and obtain airline guidance before departure.

What if I have only one name and no surname?

Enter the name according to the airline's single-name procedure rather than inventing a surname. Contact Nanak Flights before ticketing because the required format can differ across airlines and international systems.

Can I change the passenger name at the airport?

Airline tickets are generally non-transferable. Minor corrections may be possible before the check-in deadline, but replacing the original passenger with another person is usually not permitted.

Can I fly if my middle name is missing from the ticket?

A missing middle name may be acceptable when the first name and surname clearly match the passenger’s valid identity document, but airline systems and international document checks differ. Contact the operating airline before travel, keep written confirmation where available and request a correction if the airline considers the omission material.

Can I check in at an airport kiosk?

Self-service kiosks are available at selected airports and for eligible passengers. Travellers with document checks, special assistance, infants, pets or certain international journeys may still need the airline counter.

What is self-baggage drop at an Indian airport?

Self-baggage drop lets eligible checked-in passengers print or scan bag tags and deposit baggage at a designated machine or counter. Availability depends on the airport, airline and passenger category.

Can I use a screenshot of my boarding pass?

A clear screenshot may work where mobile boarding passes are accepted, but live app access or a printed copy is safer. Ensure the barcode is fully visible and the flight details are current.

Why did online check-in fail for my booking?

Online check-in may be unavailable because of document verification, special assistance, an infant, an unaccompanied minor, a schedule change, a codeshare flight or technical restrictions. Report to the airport counter early.

Can a group check in together at the airport?

Yes, but large groups should arrive earlier and keep passenger documents organised. Seat allocation and baggage acceptance may still be processed individually, especially when travellers are on separate PNRs.

Will the airline assign a free seat if I do not pay for seat selection?

Usually a seat is assigned during check-in, but adjacent seats are not guaranteed. Families, elderly travellers and passengers with accessibility needs should request suitable seating as early as possible.

When does airport check-in close for domestic flights?

The deadline varies by airline and airport and is earlier than the scheduled departure time. Check the operating airline's current rule and plan to finish baggage drop well before the cut-off.

When does the boarding gate close?

Boarding gates close before departure, and a checked-in passenger can still be denied boarding for arriving late. Follow the boarding pass, airport screens and airline announcements.

What should I do if I miss the baggage-drop deadline?

Go immediately to the airline counter, but baggage acceptance is not guaranteed after cut-off. The airline may treat the booking as a no-show even if security queues or road traffic caused the delay.

Can I board with only cabin baggage after check-in closes?

Not necessarily. Check-in and boarding cut-offs apply even without checked baggage, so arriving with cabin baggage only does not guarantee acceptance after the deadline.

How do I know if my boarding gate has changed?

Monitor airport display screens, airline app notifications, SMS messages and announcements. Do not rely only on the gate printed on an early boarding pass.

What does 'boarding from a bus gate' mean?

Passengers are transported by airport bus from the terminal gate to an aircraft parked away from the building. Be at the gate on time because the last bus may leave before the published departure time.

Can I leave the airport during a domestic layover?

You may be able to leave if the layover is long and you can meet security and boarding deadlines again. Consider baggage status, terminal location, traffic and whether the connection is protected.

Will I need security screening again during a domestic connection?

It depends on the airport layout, terminal transfer and itinerary. Some connections remain airside, while others require passengers to exit, transfer terminals and clear security again.

Will my checked baggage go directly to my final Indian destination?

Only when the airline confirms through-checking. Separate tickets, different airlines or airport changes may require baggage collection and a new check-in at the connecting city.

How much connection time should I keep at Delhi or Mumbai airport?

The safe time depends on terminals, baggage transfer, airline protection and whether immigration is involved. Connections requiring terminal changes or separate tickets need substantially more time than same-terminal protected connections.

Can I connect from a domestic flight to an international flight in India?

Yes. Confirm whether baggage is through-checked, which terminal is used and where immigration and customs occur. Keep enough time for document verification, security and possible terminal transfer.

Can I connect from an international flight to a domestic flight in India?

Usually passengers clear immigration, collect baggage and complete customs at the first Indian arrival airport before checking in for the domestic sector, unless an approved process states otherwise.

Can I sleep at an Indian airport during an overnight connection?

Some airports permit ticketed transit passengers to remain in designated areas, while others have terminal-access or operating-hour restrictions. Check airport facilities, lounge hours and nearby transit hotels in advance.

What is an airport transit hotel?

A transit hotel provides short-stay accommodation inside or near an airport for passengers with long connections. Access may depend on terminal, visa status, baggage arrangements and whether the hotel is airside or landside.

Can I use an airport lounge on a domestic ticket?

Yes, when you have eligible airline status, cabin access, a qualifying bank card, membership or paid entry. Access is subject to capacity, terminal location, time limits and the specific card programme.

Does a debit or credit card guarantee lounge access?

No. Card benefits can change and may require a minimum spend, limited visits or a separate validation charge. Check the issuer's current lounge list and eligibility before travel.

Is fast-track security available at Indian airports?

Selected airports or premium services may offer priority access, but availability and eligibility vary. It does not replace the requirement to arrive before check-in and boarding deadlines.

Can I use DigiYatra for a child travelling with me?

Child enrolment and use depend on the current DigiYatra process, age requirements and airport facilities. Carry the child's accepted travel documents even when using a digital airport process.

What should I do if my phone is lost or discharged after using DigiYatra?

Proceed through the regular airport process with your ticket and accepted identity document. DigiYatra is an optional facilitation tool and should not be your only proof of travel.

Can I use DigiYatra for an international departure?

Availability depends on the airport and current implementation. International passengers may still need airline document verification and a physical boarding pass even when some biometric entry functions are available.

What should I keep ready for airport security screening?

Keep the boarding pass and ID accessible, remove items as directed, and pack electronics, liquids and metal objects so they can be screened efficiently. Follow on-site instructions because procedures can vary.

Can I wear jewellery through airport security?

Ordinary jewellery is generally permitted, but metal items may trigger additional screening. Valuable jewellery should remain under the passenger's control and may be subject to customs rules on international travel.

Can I carry religious articles through airport security?

Some religious articles may be permitted under specific conditions, while sharp or restricted items may have special security rules. Confirm with the airline and airport-security authority before travel.

What happens to an item confiscated at airport security?

A prohibited item may be surrendered, disposed of, transferred to checked baggage when time and rules allow, or handled according to airport procedure. Recovery is not guaranteed, so check restrictions before packing.

How should a first-time flyer prepare for an Indian airport?

Keep the ticket, ID and terminal details ready; arrive early; complete check-in and baggage drop; pass security; monitor the gate; and reach boarding before closure. Ask uniformed airline or airport staff when uncertain.

Can I carry a paper boarding pass and a mobile boarding pass together?

Yes. Keeping both can be useful if the phone battery fails or the barcode does not scan. Use the latest boarding pass if the airline has changed the gate, seat or flight details.

Can I enter the airport many hours before departure?

Entry may be restricted when passengers arrive too early, especially at busy terminals or overnight. Check the airport's access policy and the opening time of the airline check-in counters.

How should I prepare for festival-season airport crowds in India?

Allow additional road and terminal time during Diwali, Holi, Eid, Christmas, summer holidays and major wedding periods. Complete online check-in where eligible and pre-book baggage or assistance.

What should I do if the airline asks me to report to the counter after web check-in?

Go to the counter within the required time. The airline may need to verify ID, visa, age proof, special assistance, baggage, payment or travel documents before issuing or validating the boarding pass.

Baggage and restricted items

How much cabin and checked baggage can I carry?

Baggage allowance depends on the airline, route, fare brand, cabin and ticket. Check the allowance written on the final e-ticket or booking confirmation; do not assume that two flights on the same route include the same baggage.

Can I carry a power bank on a flight?

Carry power banks and spare lithium batteries in cabin baggage only, not in checked baggage. Capacity, quantity, packing, storage and in-flight-use restrictions can differ by airline and route, so check the operating airline’s latest dangerous-goods guidance before travelling.

Can I carry food, liquids and medicines?

Many ordinary food items and necessary medicines can be carried, but security, customs, quarantine and airline restrictions vary by airport and destination. Keep essential medicines in labelled packaging, carry a prescription or doctor’s note when appropriate, and check liquid, aerosol and gel limits before packing.

What should I do if my baggage is overweight?

Compare prepaid excess baggage with the airport rate before travel because advance purchase may be more economical and subject to availability. Redistribute items only within each passenger’s permitted allowance and never place power banks or prohibited valuables in checked baggage.

What should I do if checked baggage is delayed, lost or damaged?

Report the problem to the airline’s baggage desk before leaving the arrival area and obtain a Property Irregularity Report or written reference. Keep the boarding pass, baggage tag, photographs, receipts and all follow-up correspondence because claim deadlines and compensation rules apply.

What are the usual cabin-bag size limits on Indian flights?

Cabin-bag dimensions vary by airline and aircraft, even when the weight allowance is similar. Check the operating airline's current size and weight limits before packing because oversized bags may be checked at the gate for a fee.

Can I carry a separate laptop bag with my cabin baggage?

Some fares permit a small personal item or laptop bag in addition to the main cabin bag, while others apply a combined weight limit. Confirm the rule shown for the operating airline and fare.

Can two passengers combine their checked-baggage allowance?

Baggage pooling may be allowed for passengers travelling together on the same flight and booking, but not by every airline or fare. Piece limits and maximum weight per bag still apply.

What is the difference between piece-based and weight-based baggage?

Weight-based baggage allows a total number of kilograms, subject to bag limits. Piece-based baggage specifies how many bags are included and the maximum weight and dimensions of each piece.

Can one checked bag weigh more than 32 kg?

Airlines and airport handlers generally impose a maximum handling weight for an individual bag. A very heavy bag may need to be repacked into separate pieces even when the total purchased allowance is sufficient.

Is prepaid excess baggage cheaper than paying at the airport?

It often is, but prices, deadlines and refund rules vary. Purchase only after confirming the correct passenger, flight sector, weight and baggage type.

Which airline's baggage rules apply on a codeshare flight?

The applicable rule can depend on the operating carrier, marketing carrier and ticket agreement. Check the baggage allowance printed on the e-ticket and obtain clarification for mixed-airline itineraries.

Will my baggage be transferred automatically between partner airlines?

Only when the airlines have an interline arrangement and the baggage tag is issued to the final destination. Confirm the tag at check-in and ask where you must collect the bag.

Can the airline take my cabin bag at the boarding gate?

Yes. A compliant cabin bag may still be gate-checked because of limited overhead space, aircraft type or operational needs. Remove medicines, valuables, documents, batteries and fragile electronics before handing it over.

Should I put a fragile sticker on breakable checked baggage?

A fragile label can alert handlers but does not guarantee special treatment or compensation. Pack breakable items securely and keep high-value or irreplaceable items out of checked baggage.

What valuables should never be placed in checked baggage?

Keep passports, cash, jewellery, medicines, keys, legal papers, electronics, chargers containing batteries and other essential valuables in cabin baggage, subject to security and customs rules.

Can I carry jewellery on a domestic flight in India?

Personal jewellery is generally carried in cabin baggage, but the passenger remains responsible for security and lawful possession. High-value items should be documented and kept under personal control.

Can I carry a large amount of cash on a domestic flight?

Airline security screening is separate from tax, law-enforcement and source-of-funds requirements. Carry only lawful funds, retain supporting documents and obtain professional guidance when transporting a substantial amount.

Can I pack a laptop or tablet in checked baggage?

It is safer to carry laptops and tablets in cabin baggage. If an airline permits a device in checked baggage, it should be completely switched off and protected, while spare batteries and power banks must follow cabin-baggage rules.

Can I carry professional cameras and lenses on a flight?

Usually yes, subject to cabin size, weight and battery rules. Use protective cases, keep spare batteries properly insulated and check customs requirements for expensive professional equipment on international journeys.

How can I travel with a guitar or musical instrument?

Depending on size, an instrument may travel as cabin baggage, a purchased extra seat or checked special baggage. Obtain written airline approval and understand handling fees and liability limits before departure.

Can I carry a cricket kit on an Indian flight?

Cricket bats, stumps and similar equipment normally travel as checked or special baggage rather than cabin baggage. Fees, packaging and size limits vary by airline.

How do I take a bicycle on a flight?

A bicycle generally requires advance notice, partial disassembly and secure packaging in a box or approved case. Special-baggage and excess-weight charges may apply.

Does a stroller count toward an infant’s baggage allowance?

Treatment varies by airline and fare. Some carriers accept one collapsible stroller or pram without using the infant’s standard baggage allowance, while others apply size, weight or check-in conditions. Confirm the benefit in writing and ask whether the stroller will be returned at the aircraft door or baggage belt.

How are manual wheelchairs carried on flights?

Often yes, but the booking may need to be split before one passenger is cancelled or changed. Ask the airline or ticketing agent to protect the remaining travellers, seats and special services, and obtain a written calculation of the refund, penalty or credit for the affected passenger.

Can I receive unused taxes from a non-refundable ticket?

Some government or airport taxes may be refundable when travel does not occur, while carrier charges may not be. Submit a formal request and ask for an itemised calculation.

Will the refund return to the original payment method?

Usually yes, because airlines and agents generally refund to the original card, account or payment channel. Alternative payment may require additional verification.

What if the card used for payment has expired?

The issuing bank may still route the refund to the replacement card or linked account. Contact the bank and provide the airline refund reference if the credit does not appear.

What if the bank account used for payment is closed?

Inform the airline or agent before refund processing where possible. Alternative settlement procedures vary and may require identity, payment and bank-closure evidence.

Should I file a chargeback for a delayed flight refund?

A chargeback is a formal banking dispute and should not be used casually. First document the cancellation, refund promise and follow-up; an improper chargeback can complicate an active booking or refund.

Can I choose a refund instead of an alternate flight after airline cancellation?

Depending on the circumstances and applicable passenger-rights rules, a passenger who does not accept the offered alternative may be entitled to a refund. Keep the cancellation notice and request in writing.

What is considered a significant schedule change?

Airlines define thresholds differently, and passenger rights can depend on timing and impact. Changes to departure time, arrival time, routing, airport or connection should be reviewed against the fare and applicable regulation.

What if the airline changes my flight to another airport?

Check ground-transport impact, connection feasibility and whether the alternate airport is acceptable. Ask for re-accommodation or refund options where the change materially affects the journey.

What happens if an airline stops operating my route?

The airline may offer an alternate service, rerouting, credit or refund according to its policy and applicable law. Act promptly because replacement fares can rise.

What happens if an airline becomes insolvent?

Recovery depends on how the ticket was paid, whether another airline honours it, insurance coverage and insolvency procedures. Contact the card issuer, insurer, airline and ticketing agent immediately.

Can I request a cancellation waiver after a death in the family?

Some airlines consider compassionate waivers with official documents, but approval is discretionary unless the fare or law provides otherwise. Submit the request before travel where possible.

Can I request a medical waiver for flight cancellation?

Possibly. The airline may require a recent medical certificate stating why travel is not possible, and it may offer refund, credit or date change rather than a full cash refund.

Will I receive a refund if my visa is refused?

Only when the fare or airline has a specific visa-refusal provision or grants a waiver. A refusal letter and other documents may be required, and deductions can apply.

What proof should I provide for a duplicate-booking refund request?

Provide both PNRs and ticket numbers, payment receipts, passenger details, identical itinerary information and the time each booking was made. Report the duplication immediately and avoid using either ticket until the airline or issuing agent confirms which reservation will remain active.

What should I do if I booked the wrong travel date?

Contact the airline or Nanak Flights immediately before the fare changes further. Compare amendment cost with cancellation and a new ticket.

Can prepaid baggage be refunded after cancellation?

Add-on refunds depend on the airline and reason for cancellation. Airline-caused disruption may be treated differently from a voluntary cancellation.

Can I receive a refund for a paid seat I did not get?

Request a seat-fee refund when the airline changes the aircraft or cannot provide the purchased seat. Keep the receipt, original seat confirmation and final boarding pass.

Can I receive a refund for a pre-booked meal that was not served?

Submit a request with the booking and payment proof. Eligibility depends on the airline's add-on policy and the reason the meal was unavailable.

How does travel insurance handle a cancelled flight?

Insurance pays only for covered reasons and documented losses under the policy. An airline refund or credit can reduce the amount claimable.

What is an airline credit shell?

A credit shell stores eligible ticket value for future use under specified passenger, route and validity conditions. It is not the same as a cash refund.

Can a flight voucher expire?

Yes. Check the issue date, booking deadline, travel deadline, route restrictions and whether extensions are permitted.

Can I transfer a flight voucher to another passenger?

Usually not unless the voucher terms expressly permit transfer. Many credits remain tied to the original passenger or booking account.

Can I use a credit shell for a family member?

Only if the airline's rules allow it. Confirm passenger-name restrictions before cancelling a cash ticket in favour of credit.

How can I track a pending refund?

Keep the cancellation reference, refund amount, processing date and payment details. Request the airline's refund or ARN reference where applicable and follow up with the bank.

Should I ask for fare rules in writing before cancelling?

Yes. A written calculation should show airline penalty, fare difference, non-refundable components, agency fee and expected refund or credit.

Can I obtain a cancellation receipt?

Yes. Request written confirmation showing the cancelled sectors, date, refund method and deductions for accounting or insurance purposes.

Will I receive a GST credit note after cancellation?

Tax-document treatment depends on the invoice and transaction. Business travellers should request the applicable credit note or revised invoice from the issuing entity.

Why does the airline tell me to contact the travel agent for a refund?

The issuing agent often controls voluntary changes and refunds because it holds the ticketing record. The airline may still handle day-of-travel disruption while directing financial processing to the agent.

What should I do when the agent says the airline has not released the refund?

Ask for the airline submission date, reference number, approved amount and current status. Keep all written records and escalate through the airline and payment channel when necessary.

What evidence should I attach to an AirSewa grievance?

Include the ticket, boarding pass, airline messages, receipts, complaint references, photographs and a clear timeline. State the specific remedy requested.

How long should I wait before escalating an unresolved airline complaint?

Follow the response period stated by the airline or grievance channel and keep the acknowledgement number. Escalate sooner when travel is imminent, a refund deadline is approaching or urgent accessibility needs are affected. Include the original complaint, timeline, supporting documents and the specific remedy requested.

Can I approach a consumer commission for an airline dispute?

Potentially, depending on jurisdiction, limitation periods and the facts. Keep contracts, receipts, correspondence and proof of loss and obtain legal advice where appropriate.

Should I complain about a flight issue on social media?

Social media may attract attention but should not replace a formal written complaint. Avoid publishing passport, PNR, phone, payment or other sensitive information.

Can I claim compensation for a long flight delay in India?

Entitlement depends on the delay, cause, notice, route and applicable DGCA rules. Preserve the actual departure and arrival times and all airline communications.

Must the airline provide meals or a hotel during a delay?

Assistance can depend on delay length, time of day, cause and passenger circumstances. Ask the airline desk for written information about available care.

What are my rights if I am denied boarding because of overbooking?

Passengers who reported on time with valid documents may have rights to alternate travel, refund or compensation under applicable rules. Do not sign away rights without understanding the offer.

Can I claim for a wheelchair damaged by the airline?

Report the damage immediately, obtain a written property report, photograph the equipment and keep repair or replacement estimates. Explain any urgent mobility impact.

What happens if an airline delay causes a missed protected connection?

The airline should review rebooking and assistance under the ticket and applicable rules. Contact the transfer desk before purchasing a replacement independently.

What happens during weather disruption, strikes or airport closure?

Airlines may reroute, reschedule, credit or refund according to the event and applicable rules, but compensation can differ for circumstances outside their control. Keep monitoring official updates and document extra expenses.
